IPDC Finance Limited, the first private financial institution of Bangladesh established in 1981, conducted the second episode of 'OGROJ.'
The event, which was aired live on IPDC’s official Facebook page, presented the narratives of key figures who have played instrumental roles in developing Bangladesh's economy.
On the second episode of 'Ogroj', host Anis A. Khan steered an in-depth conversation with the eminent economist, Rehman Sobhan, who is also the founder of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). Rehman Sobhan played an active role in the Bengali nationalist movement in the 1960s. He worked closely with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Tajuddin Ahmed, Kamal Hossain, and Nurul Islam on the Six Points' constitutional implications. He was also a member of the first Planning Commission in Bangladesh. Presently, Rehman Sobhan heads the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). With Rehman Sobhan, Bangladesh Institute for Development Studies (BIDS) came to be known as of the country's premier research institution and as a center for social conscience.
Speaking about the show, Mominul Islam, the Managing Director, and CEO, IPDC Finance Limited, said, "It is indeed rewarding to walk through the journey of an iconic economist like Rehman Sobhan Sir. His deliberate effort to move his life to a different trajectory from its intended path and boldly engage in his political struggles has led to the emergence of an independent Bangladesh".
He said through Ogroj, IPDC intends to initiate a digital memoir on such narratives and looks forward to creating a dialogue about their accounts and inspiring the audience.
