Business leaders sought direct investment from Asia-Pacific countries for the country's infrastructure development and rising positive economic growth.
The demands came up on the first day of 33rd CACCI Conference inaugural ceremony on Tuesday at a city Hotel.
Prime Ministe's Private Industry and Investment Advisor Salman F Rahman attended the inaugural session as chief guest.
While addressing, he said that Bangladesh is now a great destination for foreign and domestic investments.
"The current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a business and trade-friendly government. The Bangladeshi government has been working towards inclusive development of the nation by hosting various officials and diplomats for possible investments along with incentivization to the MSME's and entrepreneurs" he added.
Through this Conference, Rahman emphasized upon on different development activities of the government, including the advantages of setting up industries and making investments in different region.
He said the government has undertaken a plan to establish 100 economic zones around the country and aid the movement of their produce by utlising the corridor‟s trade potential.
FBCCI and Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) have jointly organised the conference.
The theme of this year's conference is 'Asia: At the Centre of a New World Order'.
FBCCI President Sheikh F Fahim emphasized on Bangladesh‟s stable macro-economic growth trajectory and its development in past decade in addition to highlighting FBCCI‟s role as the umbrella trade organization of Bangladesh reflecting Banglades's private sector voice in the international space complementing our Govt.‟s initiative. "FBCCI has been addressing some ciritical issues of our transitional economy including knowledge transfer for 3IR to 4IR, AI, regulatory planning, SDG goals, industry-academia gap assessment, reskilling, technology transfer, among others" Fahim added.
CACCI President Samir Modi in his inaugural speech said that Asia- Pacific region is now world‟s largest and fastest developing economy spearheading growth in trade, investments, new technologies, innovation and reforms. He also mentioned the recent economic trends in Asia and the Pacific lend optimism to perceptions that the region will maintain its preponderant influence as the engine of the global economy in future also.
He said while Asia is at the forefront of the global economy today, it confronts some fundamental challenges that may require a shift in the region‟s growth model. Preserving international and regional collaboration also remains an important overarching objective for strong economic integration of the region.
Selected successful entrepreneurs from various CACCI member countries took part in the session. They presented keynote speech on current economic conditions in their respective countries and opportunities for trade and investments and shared their success stories, challenges and how they overcame. FBCCI President Sheikh F Fahim moderated the session. The two days 33rd CACCI Conference brings together more than 300 business delegates including leading National Chambers of Commerce, Business leaders and Policy makers from 27 countries in the Asia Pacific region and feature eminent speakers ranging from leading economists, business practitioners as well as regional policy makers to assess key challenges and issues. 55 participants from 15 CACCI member countries including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Nepal, Panama, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and USA took part at the Conference.
The event will cover sessions on “Business Opportunities through CACCI”, “Asia Pacific in a Changing Global Order: The Next Decade”, “Technologies Transforming Economies”, “In Pursuit of Equitable and Sustainable Growth,” and “Building an Enabling Environment for Inclusive Digital Transformation in the Asia-Pacific,” in addition to breakout sessions on “Promoting Entrepreneurship”, “Achieving Food Security and Food Safety”, “Overcoming the Digital Gender Divide” and “Promoting SME Development.
