Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) has said that internet service may be disrupted from 2pm to 10pm on next Friday.
The company said in a press release on Monday that internet speed could be slow due to maintenance work between that period.
BSCCL has already sought apologies for users may face temporary difficulties.
According to BSCCL, the Cox's Bazar Roads Department and the Cox's Bazar Development Authority have completed the construction of a new route from the Cox's Bazar landing station to the Beach Manhole as an alternative to the existing underground cable.
The new route will be connected to the optical fiber and power cable by the ‘SEA-ME-WE-4’ submarine cable. In addition, the terminated circuits will be transferred to the new underground cable (Beach Manhole to Cox's Bazar Landing Station) via the 'SEA-ME-WE-4' submarine cable.
The notification said that this work will be done from 2 pm to 10 pm next Friday. At this time the circuits terminated at Cox's Bazar landing station by submarine cable will be closed.
However, the second submarine cable and ITC circuits will be operational at this time. Even so, users may still find the internet service sluggish.
Bangladesh's first submarine cable was added in 2005. And in September 2017, the second submarine cable was connected to the SEA-ME-WE-5 submarine cable through the landing station at Kalapara in Patuakhali.
