International Day for Older Person was observed with a rally and discussion in Gurudaspur upazila of Natore on Tuesday.
The rally was held on the upazila parishad premises and the discussion was held at the upazila parishad conference room. The motto of this year’s International Day for Older Person was “Respectful old age: Strengthening worldwide care and support for older person.”
Gurudaspur Assistant Commissioner (Land) Asadul Islam presided over the discussion.
The programme was arranged by upazila administration and Upzila Department of Social Services.
Upazila Social Service Officer Shafikul Islam moderated the discussion. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Harunor Rashid, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Seli Akter, Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar Hossain, heroic Freedom Fighters Rabuil Karim and Dudu Sarkar attended the meeting as special guests.
Older persons and freedom fighters from various areas attended the discussion. The guests present at the meeting discussed about various measures to ensure care and respectful old age for the older persons.
