Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, in the age of digital technology, talent is the greatest asset of the present world. The new generation of Bangladesh is very talented. If they can be properly developed and utilized, the future Bangladesh will be a unique example of the world.
The minister said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the fourth industrial revolution and Bangladesh perspective book publication ceremony at the Manisingh-Farhad Memorial Trust in Dhaka on Sunday night.
Presided over by Shekhar Dutta, President of Manisingh Farhad Memorial Trust, Sultan Qaboos University Professor Dr SM Mujibur Rahman, Information Technology Expert Mahbub Zaman, United Nations Former Head of Development Research Dr Nazrul Islam, media personality Abdun Noor Tushar and Dhaka University Professor Dr Sangeeta Ahmed spoke. Dilwar Hossain, chief executive of Bangla Dharitri, the publishing company of the book, moderated the program.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications pointed out that Bangladesh has undergone a wonderful transformation after overcoming hundreds of years of backwardness and said that Bangladesh is now an exemplary example of the world. This transformation is the product of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary and wise political leadership. He said, Bangladesh's biggest asset is demographic dividend. It should be used. If our youth get a little help, they can take Bangladesh to the leadership position of the fifth industrial revolution. This requires digital transformation of education.
It is not possible to make the young society suitable for the digital age in the conventional education system. Minister Mustafa Jabbar, the pioneer of digital transformation of education, highlighted various activities undertaken in the digital transformation of education in the country and said, we have started the process of digital transformation of primary education. The minister called on all concerned including UGC to take a strong role in the field of higher education.
The minister said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took the initiative to connect this country, which was behind in technology for hundreds of years, with the world of digital technology. In 1973, gaining membership of ITU, UPU, formation of T&T Board, establishment of geo-satellite center in Betbunia on June 14, 1975, nationalization of primary education, expansion of technical education and other revolutionary programs were taken and implemented. Through this, the foundation for participation in the Internet revolution or the third industrial revolution, which began in 1969, was laid.
However, the people of this continent could not participate in either of the two industrial revolutions of the past. Sheikh Hasina, the rightful successor of Bangabandhu, standing on the foundation created by Bangabandhu during her 19-year rule, has made Bangladesh a wonderful success in every indicator of progress today through various groundbreaking programs including the implementation of Digital Bangladesh Vision-2021. In continuation of this, the minister mentioned that work is going on to implement Smart Bangladesh 2041 vision in the establishment of Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla.
In the event, the Minister unveiled the cover of the book on the Fourth Industrial Revolution Bangladesh. The book compiles the writings of many including Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Fourth Art.In the President's speech on the occasion, Shekhar Dutta emphasized on the need to utilize the power of technology more for development.
Speakers in the event said that Indian technologists have no choice in the world of digital technology innovation, including Silicon Valley, thanks to IIT. They mentioned the need to establish BITs on the lines of IITs.
