A twelve-day long international workshop titled “Research School on Dynamical Systems and its Applications to Biology” concluded on Friday at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). The Department of Mathematics of DU, International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation jointly organised this event with a theme of “Development of Research in Mathematics in Developing Countries”.
Local Coordinator of CIMPA Research School Prof Dr Md Shahidul Islam presided over the concluding ceremony while UGC Chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah addressed it as the chief guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Tofail Ahmad Chowdhury and Trustee of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Prof Dr Perween Hasan addressed the program as special guests. External Coordinator of CIMPA Research School Prof Dr Renaud Leplaideur gave a speech thanking the organisers. Prof Dr Chandra Nath Podder conducted the programme.
UGC Chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah stressed the need for modernization of mathematics education to develop the education system in the country. He stated, “The overall development of Bangladesh depends on advancement of science and technology”. He also called upon all to work together in this regard.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof Dr Muhammad Samad thanked the organizers for arranging the international workshop. He hoped that this event would help researchers and mathematicians enhance the quality of research.
Academics and researchers from Bangladesh, France, Germany, Brazil, Austria, Cambodia, Ghana, Egypt, China, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan and India participated in the event.
