The 31st International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the National Disabled Day-2022 was observed in the district and elsewhere across the country on Saturday in a befitting manner through various programmes.
This year the day's theme is 'Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.'
Marking the day, a discussion meeting, wheel chair distribution and cultural programmes were held at the Bhola Children's Disabilities Center this morning at the initiative of the District Administration and Social Services Department.
Deputy Director of Local Government Department Bivek Sarkar was present as the chief guest with Assistant Director of the District Social Services Department Kazi Golam Kabir in the chair.
The speakers said the persons with disabilities would have to be developed as worthy citizens of the country through providing them with all facilities including healthcare, education and employment.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman, Sadar Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Md Yunus and freedom fighter Anwar Hossain, among others, spoke at the function.
