With the slogan ‘Good governance for disaster risk reduction, ensure sustainable development’, the International day for Disaster Reduction was celebrated in Faridpur on Tuesday.
On this occasion, a discussion meeting was organized by Faridpur district administration at 10:30 am in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner while, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually inaugurated disaster resistant home.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting. Acting Chairman of Faridpur District Council Jharna Hasan was the special guest at the discussion chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Roksana Rahman.
Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar in his speech said, “Disasters could be both natural and man-made. Social degradation is also a disaster so, we have to get out of it. You have to be a good person for that. As there are measures for disaster prevention, there are remedial measures too which should be followed”.
