Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Mahbubul Anam has said that they are planning to resume its international cricket from September after its domestic cricket, report agencies.

BCB director Anam said this in a group interaction to a Bengali media where he along with his board colleague Khaled Mahmud Sujon and BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu were also present.

The director said that the international matches will start in the country from September after observing the corona situation in the country.

According to Mahbubul Anam, the BCB has to wait for another three months to observe the pandemic situation and then return to the game later then.

“The BCB will not resume matches by putting anyone at medical risk. We also think that the position in Bangladesh will definitely go down; it will go down after the peak,” Mahbub Anam said.

“We think that this season might be left out. If we consider this season till September, we are still in June, we still have three more months July, August, September, to be left, we are hopeful that we will be able to resume cricket from next season,” Anam added.

BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu points out the mental condition and the fact of Red Zone to establish his point and support the September slot for the resumption of cricket.

“The pressure is definitely working, but it is also important to keep in mind that in terms of hygiene, the health issue of the players is the most important issue, other negative thoughts will not come here. Health issues, practicing in the Red Zone are all related. You can’t omit anything,” Minhajul Abedin said.

“So first we have to see if everyone is feeling mentally healthy and ready to go on the field, whether the environment is right or not. The medical plan that we will have about how to go to the field, how to practice, everything is interrelated with each other. So in that case we are thinking of starting the schedule in September-October,” Nannu added.

However, BCB game development Chairman Khaled Mahmud Sujon is reluctant to speak about any specific month about the return of cricket in the country.

As he believes the situation of the coronavirus will go down surely but it’s uncertain about when it may go downwards, so the decision-makers should wait for another month before giving any month further for the return of the cricket.

“It’ll surely go down from the peak, if we say it’ll go down from September then we can start from October. Every player in Bangladesh is an asset for the Bangladesh team. Mushfiqur, Riyad, they’re not created at once, they’re created with time,” Khaled Mahmud said.

“If something happens to someone, he will then be the sufferer. The same goes for our youngsters like Soumya, Liton. Not that we’ve a lot of cricket players on the line,” Sujon also said.

“So I think this is not the right time to say, we can make a prediction that we can start at this or that time. Nothing will happen in that prediction.

Definitely we have to wait another month. We have to see whether the pandemic is going downward. Only then can we make a decision as to when we can start,” he added.
