Int’l conference on STI 4.0 begins at GUB

A two-day international conference on Sustainable Technologies for Industry 4.0 (STI 2019) began on Saturday at the permanent campus of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), Purbachal American City. 

Faculty of Science and Engineering of GUB organised the conference with a view to get ready for facing challenges of fourth industrial revolution.

GUB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md Golam Samdani Fakir presided over the opening session while Prof. Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU was present as special guest. Due to illness, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, chief guest of the program did not present in the inauguration session. 

GUB Pro-VC Prof Dr Md Abdur Razzaque delivered welcome address while Dr. Rajkumar Buyya, IEEE Fellow from University of Melbourne, Australia; Dr. Claudio Cañizares, IEEE Fellow, University of Waterloo, Canada; Professor Vincent Wong, IEEE Fellow, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada; Hussein Abbass, IEEE Fellow, University of New South Wales, Australia; Professor Sushmita Mitra, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and Professor Emeritus of BRAC University presented their keynote speakers. 

In conference, DU Pro VC Prof. Dr. A. S. M Maksud Kamal said that, the fourth industrial revolution is a challenge for us. So, we want to turn the challenge into possibility through adopting modern technologies in education system.

GUB Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir said, the pandemic situation has put forth a completely new challenge for the education sector. Here we took prompt action right at the very beginning of the lock down phase by going completely online in order to make sure that valuable time is not wasted from the lives of our young students.

General Chair of the Conference Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque said that, the STI 2020 conference aims to present theoretical and empirical studies that contribute to developing a better understanding of Sustainable Technologies for Industry 4.0. 

He said that, the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0 is both an opportunity and a challenge to enhance global manufacturing output to meet the rising human needs without hurting the environment. Industrial automation, connection and aggregation of different data in corporate information systems are phenomena that need to be studied in-depth, such studies would make them contribute to the new business strategy, bringing concrete benefits.
