The three-day International Conference and Bioscience Carnival (ICBC) concluded at Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU) on Sunday. This was the first time the event was organised through a joint initiative of RMSTU and the Bangladesh Biosafety and Biosecurity Society (BBBS).
The conference took place at the university’s Academic Building in three separate sessions. In each session, around 7–10 research papers were presented, including keynote and invited speeches from noted researchers. Alongside, a poster presentation was held from 12 pm to 1 pm, where selected research posters were evaluated by a panel.
At this conference, about 84 research papers were presented covering a wide range of topics. These included the diagnosis and treatment of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in animals and agriculture, cancer, diabetes, drug discovery, antimicrobial resistance, infection control, biosafety, biosecurity, and the use of natural products in healthcare.
Researchers, professors, and students from various renowned universities and research institutions across the country participated in the conference. Students and researchers from RMSTU also presented three research papers on topics like ethno-medicinal plants in the hilly region, new industries in agriculture, and the impact of pests and diseases on different tree species.
In his closing remarks, Dr Chandan Kumar Roy, Associate Professor of Microbiology at Bangladesh Medical University and Co-Chair of ICBC, expressed his gratitude to all participants. He also highlighted BBBS’s contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic and expressed hope for future collaboration with RMSTU.
Speaking to Bangladesh Post, RMSTU Vice-Chancellor and ICBC Chairman Professor Dr Md Atiar Rahman said, "The International Conference and Bioscience Carnival (ICBC) is a milestone event for Rangamati Science and Technology University.
