Int’l conclave on materials, energy, climate begins at DU

A two-day long International Conclave on ‘Materials, Energy & Climate’ has begun today December 19, 2022 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP virtually inaugurated this conclave as chief guest while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal addressed it as special guest. DU Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (ACCE) Department organized this conclave in collaboration with International Association of Advances Materials, Sweden marking the Golden Jubilee of ACCE Department.

Presided over by the chair of the organizing committee of the conclave Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam the inaugural function was addressed by Chairman of the Department of ACCE Prof. Dr. Md. Nurnabi and Magsaysay Awardee Dr Rajendra Sing.

Dr Dipu Moni, MP said, Bangladesh government has taken many pragmatic measures to tackle adverse impact of climate change. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Bangladesh achieved tremendous success to save human life from flood, cyclone, draught and other natural calamities, she added.

Prof Dr A S M Maksud Kamal said, climate change is globally a burning issue. Bangladesh is the worst affected country of global warming. We have to develop clean energy to reduce emission of Carbon dioxide and save environment from pollution. He urged researchers, teachers, students and participants of this conclave to share their experience and play an important role for mitigating effects of climate change. 

Researchers, teachers, students and representatives of different organizations from home and abroad have participated in this conclave.
