Inmates at risk in Jhenaidah jail

About double number of prisoners have been staying in Jhenidah district prison. It has worried the inmates, their near and dear ones and the authority. Although the authorities has been taking safety measures to keep their inmates safe from the slap of the deadly Novel Corona Virus.

Some family members of the inmates staying in Jhenidah district prison said they came to know that the number of the inmates in the district prison is almost double and they are living in gathering the safe home. As the corona virus has been marching aggressively in the country, they were worried thinking the future of their relatives.

Superintendent of Jhenidah district prison Golam Hossain when contacted said a total of 698 prisoners have been staying in their safe home. Of the total 32 was female and an inmate has been staying with her minor child there.

The medical team of the district prison has been checking up the health of the inmates and taking intensive care of the inmates suffering from cold, cough, fever or throat soaring.

District prison authorities have been using the cells to accommodate the inmates. Those kept in the cells for at least two weeks, are taken back to the ward. To prevent the deadly corona virus, they have been conducting awareness activities with the inmates. Further, the authorities have geared up the cleanness activities to make the environment health-friendly, district prison superintendent added.
