A female inmate died after falling sick in Kashimpur Jail of Gazipur on Friday afternoon.
Deceased Kasiron, 45, was accused in a murder case, said Shahjahan Ahmed, Kashimpur Female Jail superintendent.
Kasiron hailed from Jamalpur Sadar upazila. Shahjahan said that Kasiron was shifted to Kashimpur Female Jail from Mymensingh Jail on August 19.
She was sick while she was in Mymensingh Jail, he said, adding that Kasiron fell sick on Friday afternoon and was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital where the attending physician pronounced her dead.
The hospital physician Mahmuda Akter said that Kasiron was brought dead at about 3:00pm.
