Injured Soumya ruled out of Pakistan T20 series

Tigers’ batter Soumya Sarkar was ruled out due to a back injury ahead of the upcoming tour of Pakistan, as the all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz has been recalled to Bangladesh's T20I.  

The left-hander has been experiencing right-sided lower back pain over the past week. 

The injury forced him to miss all three T20 Internationals against UAE, a series that Bangladesh lost by 2-1, following a medical assessment it was confirmed. 

“The injury requires an extended rehabilitation period of approximately 10 to 12 days. This effectively means that he will not be available for next week's three-match series in Pakistan,” after the medical evaluation, the  National team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.

The BCB has included Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the 27-year-old allrounder, who has represented Bangladesh in 29 T20 Internationals, is currently in Pakistan playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Miraz will join the national squad in Lahore upon completion of his PSL commitments. Miraz last appeared in a T20I for Bangladesh during the tour of the West Indies in December last year.  

Meanwhile, the T20 series, which was originally slated as a five-match contest, the tour has been reduced to three games after the discussion of both the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket board aand the (PCB).

All the three matches of the series will take place at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The series opener will kick off on May 28.
