Information fair begins in Gaibandha

A two-day long Information Fair-2022 has begun on the ground of Independence Square of the town here on Monday amid much enthusiasm and festivity to the concerned.

District administration and Sachetan Nagorik Committee formed in the inspiration of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) have jointly organised  the fair with the financial support of TIB with a call to create much awareness about RTI Act-2009 and strengthen the right to information among the people.

In the morning, whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.

Later, a grand rally was brought out from the ground and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the district town.

A discussion meeting was also held at Shwadhinata Manch with ADC-General Sushanta Kumar Mahato in the chair. Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed the function as the chief guest.

Additional police super Ibne Mizan, former commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, district command unit Mahmudul Haque Sahzada, renowned personality Mazharul Mannan and cultural personality Jahurul Qaiyum spoke at the event as special guests.

Whip Gini in her speeches said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is so much cordial to empower the common people of the country and reduce the corruption of the service providers of the government organizations including non-government ones.

That is why, just after resuming to power in 2009 Sheikh Hasina’s led government passed the Right To Information (RTI) Act-2009 in first session of the Jatiya Sangshad, she added.

The people of the country are getting the benefits of RTI Act-2009.

She also urged the govt. officials to provide information to the people as per their requirement without any hassle to build a beautiful country.

Masud Rana, district coordinator of TIB said as many as 40 stalls have been set up in the fair  and information and advice services are being provided to the visitors free of cost.

Beside this, filling up the information form is also being taught by hand at the initiative of the members of Sachetan Nagorik Committee and YES, groups in the fair, he cited.
