Information Commission signs MoU with TIB

Information Commission on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) aimed at effectively implementing the Right to Information Act 2009 and raising awareness among people about the act, reports BSS.

Chief Information Commissioner Martuza Ahmed and Executive Director of TIB Dr Iftekharuzzaman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at the Information Commission Office in city’s Agargaon, said a press release.

Martuza said, “The government is working tirelessly to curb corruption. The joint activities of the Information Commission and TIB will play a vital role in ensuring free flow of information and people’s right to information.”

TIB executive director said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already identified the implementation of the right to information as a milestone.

Information Commission and TIB will make the implementation of this act more effective.

Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum NDC and Secretary of Information Commission Md Toufikul Alam, among others, were present on the occasion.
