Dr. Mozibur Rahman Howlader said that strong and resourceful people are occupying different rivers in Bangladesh. They are doing this in the name of development. The river cannot be occupied in the name of development, he added.

He said, these occupations must be prevented. The river is not just occupying, it is being polluted. The river is  our main living entity. Without the river, nature will not remain safe, nothing will remain  safe. In order to protect the river from occupation and pollution, we should take planned urbanization and industrialization measures.  Future generations will not survive if the river is not properly protected, he added.
