The experimental (trial run) consignment arrived at Chattogram Port from Kolkata's Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Port under Bangladesh's transit agreement with India.
The port's powerful tug Kandari 11 assisted the vessel in berthing.
A ship has arrived at Chattogram sea port with India's goods under the agreement of transit goods transportation.
Earlier on Sunday morning, the ship had departed from Kolkata. The ship's local agent is Mango Line Limited.
The cargo vessel 'MV Trans Samudera' anchored at the port's NCT jetty on Tuesday night. This is the second shipment of Indian goods to Assam through Shayola (Sylhet)-Sutarkandi (India) land port using Chattogram port and road route. 'MV Trans Samudera' has one container of goods (rods) on board.
According to Chattogram port sources, the ship 'Trans Samudera' from Kolkata Shyamaprasad Mukherjee sea port arrived at Chattogram port at 8 pm with a total load of 124 units of imported goods. Only one of these containers contains TMT bars. They came as transit goods. After unloading the shipment from the ship at Chittagong port, the container will reach the state of Assam via road via Shayola Sylhet via Sutarkandi land port in India. At the same time, another shipment is scheduled to reach Chattogram port from Dawki in India via Tamabil land port in Sylhet. This shipment is supposed to reach Kolkata by ship from Chattogram port. Through these two consignments, five routes or ways of transit goods will be completed.
Earlier on July 21, 2020 the first consignment of transhipment reached Chattogram port from Kolkata port.
Secretary of Chattogram Port Authority, Md. Omar Faruq, said that Chattogram port is ready to handle both import and export goods under the Bangladesh-India transit agreement. The port authority is handling an average of 10,000 unit import-export-empty containers per day; As a result, transit-transhipment goods coming and going from India can be easily loaded and unloaded at this port.
