Considering the significant role of trade and commerce in Indo-Bangla relations, the Indian business community are going to celebrate the centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in five major cities of India namely Delhi, Kolkata, Agartala, Chennai and Hyderabad for the MUJIB Year.
The Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) in association with the Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) will celebrate the centenary. The two leading business chamber signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Chattogram on Thursday.
Asif Iqbal, President of IETO and Monowara Hakim Ali, the chairperson of the CWCCI signed the MoU. Hakim Ali, President of Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA), Noell Masters, Director (Corporate Relations) of IETO, S. Krishna Kumar IAS, former Minister of Defense, India were present among other members of the visiting business delegation, said a press release.
Following the visit of the CWCCI to Hyderabad last year and the current visiting delegation of the IETO to Bangladesh, Indo-Bangla relations have no platns to let the big MUJIB YEAR slip by unnoticed.
The 1971 war saw Bangladesh being liberated and Indias support since then had been rock solid with Bilateral relation peaking to its heights with Narendra Modi Govt pledging support to Bangladesh. India, a global brand, has always made a big deal out of its history grounded in red dust, it’s cultural values, and the outback.
And the early murmurs out of the visit of the Indian IETO delegation visit to Bangladesh suggest they are not going to let the Deshbandhu centenary celebrations year in 2020 pass by quietly.
They also announced the launch of the book on Bangabandhu, basedon the Pakistani intelligence report on his political activities from 1947 to 1971. Two more books, one on the Agartala Conspiracy Case court proceedings and another on his visit to China in 1952, will also be launched once it is published by the Govt in Bangladesh.
The Indian celebrations will see programs such as essay, art , and cultural competitions that will be organized at various NGOs and some partner educational institutions through out the Mujib Year.
Rare pictures of him, will be displayed at various programs across these Indian cities. Seminars and workshops on Bangabandhu will be held during the period.
The Forei gn Ministry will arrange seminars and workshops on Bangabandhu at different universities across the world and India will be no exception.
“Our nation will celebrate historically significant days with great importance during this time in Bangladesh and we are happy to support IETO in the celebrations in India that will coincide many business partners having trade dialogues with Indian counterparts,” said Monowara Hakim Ali, the chairperson of the CWCCI.
