Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India was ‘ready to do whatever it can to further global good and prosperity’.
“This is an India that is reforming, performing and transforming. This is an India that offers new economic opportunities. This is an India that is adopting a human-centric and inclusive approach to development,” he said while inaugurating the India Global Week 2020.”
It is a three-day virtual conference, being held from July 9 to July 11, themed 'Be The Revival India and a Better New World'.
Some 5,000 global participants from 30 nations are addressed by 250 global speakers across 75 sessions.
They would discuss aspects relating to opportunities in India as well as the global economic revival post-COVID.
The event will also feature a never-seen-before performance on 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' by Madhu Nataraj and a special 100th birth anniversary concert in tribute to sitar maestro Ravi Shankar by three of his most eminent students.
There is faith that the story of global revival will have India playing a leading role.
This is, Modi said, closely linked with two factors. The first is- Indian talent and the second factor is India's ability to reform and rejuvenate.
“World over, you have seen the contribution of India's talent-force. This includes Indian professionals, doctors, nurses, bankers, lawyers, scientists, professors, and our hard-working labour.”
“Who can forget the Indian tech industry and tech professionals? They have been showing the way for decades.”
On reform and rejuvenate, he said Indians are natural reformers! History has shown that India has overcome every challenge, be it social or economical. India has done so with a spirit of reform and rejuvenation.
The same spirit continues now, he said as India is fighting a strong battle against the global pandemic.
He also invited investors by saying that India remains one of the most open economies in the world.
“We are laying a red carpet for all global companies to come and establish their presence in India. Very few countries will offer the kind of opportunities India does today,” he said.
“We will pursue policies that promote efficiency, equity and resilience.”
