India gifts two buses to RU

Two 52-seat buses were presented from the people of India as the gift to the authorities of Rajshahi University.

Sanjib Bhati, Indian Assistant High Commissioner of India in Rajshahi handed over the keys of the buses to Professor Dr. Abdus Sobhan, Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University through a brief function held at Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Senate Bhaban of RU on Tuesday afternoon.  Vikram Dorswami, Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka delivered a welcome speech through online at the function. The Indian High Commissioner mentioned the martyrdom of RU teacher Dr. Zoha during the Mass-upheaval of 1969 as the unforgettable incident in the history. He also remarked, the contribution  of Bangabandhu will remain vivid and memorable forever in reestablishing friendship between Bangladesh and India. After receiving the buses, Vice-Chancellor of RU Professor Abdus Sobhan said,  the gifts from the people  of India is a revelation of deep love for Rajshahi University as well as the people of Bangladesh from the Indian people. He also recalled the all-out cooperation of India during the Freedom Struggle of Bangladesh. 

The function was attended, among others, by Pro-Vice Chancellors of RU Professor Ananda Kumar Saha and Professor Chowdhury M. Zakaria, Registrar of RU M.A. Bari, Proctor Professor Lutfar Rahman, Administrator of Public Relation deptt. of RU Professor Dr. Ajijur Rahman, Faculty heads, Hall Provosts, Officials of RU Teachers' Association, Departmental Heads and Officials of RU.
