India dismiss Windies for 176

West Indies couldn't quite hit the ground up and running in the opening ODI and folded for 176 after being asked to bat in Ahmedabad. Yuzvendra Chahal's four wickets and Washinton Sundar's three hurt the visitors as they lost their way after a pretty cautious start.

Rohit Sharma enjoyed the near-perfect start as a regular captain of the ODI side as India became the first side to feature in 1000 ODIs. The coin fell in Rohit's favour and the opener had no hesitation in bowling first given that the dew factor would come into play as the match goes on.

Shai Hope creamed two consecutive fours through cover in the third over but lost his poles as Mohammed Siraj got the next delivery to nip back in. The inside edge crashed onto the stumps and gave India the early breakthrough. Darren Bravo (31 off 52) and Brandon King made 31 off 52 for the second wicket before Washington forced the visitors into another period of rebuilding. He first had King chip a catch to midwicket and then got Bravo lbw to leave West Indies in trouble at 45 for 3.
