Indefinite bus strike called in Jhalakathi

Hundreds of passengers stuck as bus services from Jhalokati to some eight western routes have been halted for an indefinite period over a clash between BRTC bus workers and Pirojpur minibus workers. The minibus drivers and workers have called the indefinite strike on Sunday morning.

Nasir Uddin Ahmed, leader of the Jhalokati Bus and Minibus Owners' Association, said that there were clashes between local BRTC agents and private minibus workers at Pirojpur bus stand on Saturday morning over plying of additional BRTC buses. Bus and minibus workers in Barisal, Jhalokati and Pirojpur have called an indefinite strike protesting the incident.

As a result of the strike, western bus services in Barisal, Pirojpur and Jhalokati areas have been halted and a large number of passengers have been suffered due to the strike.
