In-person classes in the secondary level will start in full swing from the middle of this month, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
She said, “Hopefully, we will be able to start classes in full swing from the middle of this month. We are going for continuous evaluation. Assignments will be given to the students if needed.”
She made the statement while speaking at a programme organized by the Indian High Commission on the occasion of Study in India education fair, organized at a hotel in the capital on Friday.
Earlier this year, the educational institutions were declared closed to prevent the transmission of Omicron, the new variant of coronavirus. After remaining shut for about a month, classes resumed on February 22 in secondary, higher secondary and higher education institutions.
Although SSC candidates and students of class 10 are attending classes every day of the week, classes of all subjects are not taking place.
Classes on four subjects are being taken for SSC candidates and three subjects for the students of class 10.
Students of grades 8 and 9 are attending classes twice a week in three subjects and grades 6 and 7 are attending classes once a week in three subjects.
The Education Minister also spoke about blended learning.
“We are developing a national policy which will be handed over to the Prime Minister on the 26th of this month,” she added.
Regarding the admission in medical in short syllabus, the Education Minister said that the admission test for medical should be done by rearranging the syllabus.
“I have talked to Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) about this and I will talk to them again,” she said.
Earlier, the Minister visited the stalls of various universities in India. In the stalls, the concerned people of different universities highlighted the study environment and other facilities that will be available for Bangladeshi students in that university.
The Education Minister said, “If Indian students come to Bangladesh and Bangladeshi students go to India for higher studies, the relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened along with the exchange of knowledge.”
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami was also present during this time.
