Bangladesh's fastest sprinter Imranur Rahman, the lone athlete of Bangladesh in the 19th Asian Games, failed to create history as he eliminated from the heat of first semifinal of the athletics 100m sprint held at Hangzhou Sports Center Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

Imran ran in lane number eight and finished sixth position among the eight participants with a timing of 10.42 seconds.

Earlier, the London-based sprinter on his way to move in the semifinal, clocked 10.44 seconds to complete his race ahead of athletes from Malaysia, South Korea, Maldives, Mongolia and Laos in Heat 5 held on Friday last.

His personal best timing was 10.11. If he could have done his best timing, he could have reached the final and fight for the medal fight.

Imran is not content with his performance but he wants to take time to analyze his failure. He also thanked the countrymen for their support.

Imranur Rahman, the English born Bangladeshi, who became the first Bangladeshi to win a gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship early of this year, participates in the domestic competition as Bangladesh Army athletes.

He won the honour of being the fastest man in the 16th National Summer Athletics Competition-2022 held on 23 August 2022. He also participated for the Bangladesh Army athletics team in the 46th National Athletics Competition-2022 held on 23 December 2022 and won gold medals in 100 and 200 meters sprint.
