Operation of cargo container transportation on Chattogram-Dhaka-Chattogram highway and on the railway was halted for the importers and exporters during the ongoing flood situation.
Chattogram Port Authority has given the opportunity to use the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal to resume imports and exports using the Chattogram-Dhaka-Chattogram water route in order to solve the ongoing problem. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is ready to provide overall assistance in this regard.
The matter was confirmed through a press release of Chattogram Port on Sunday.
The press release said the user of Chattogram Port can use the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal during the ongoing flood situation to transport the cargo containers of the importers and exporters. Enough inland vessels of various companies and all types of logistic facilities of Chattogram Port are totally prepared for this operation.
In this situation, all importers and exporters, including BGMEA and BKMEA, were requested to take necessary measures for collection and shipment of import-export cargo containers from Chattogram Port through Pangaon Island Container Terminal. Overall assistance will be provided from Chatogram Port Authority in this regard.
