Import-export suspended thru Benapole port

Import-export trade through Benapole port between the two countries has been suspended since morning of Tuesday. Import-export has been stopped on the occasion of Happy Janmashtami of sree Krishna, the traditional religions. However, goods delivery activities are also stopped at Benapole port.

The Benapole Port Authorities said that the import-export activities through the port were closed from Tuesday morning to evening.

There are hundreds of goods trucks loaded with perishable and industrial raw material waiting to enter the Benapole port at Bongao Kalitala parking lot. The customs authorities are completing the shipment examination of various goods inside the port in advance.

Deputy Director (Traffic) of Benapole Port Mamun Kabir Tarafdar said that import and export activities through Benapole Port have been stopped on the Janmashtami of Sree Krishna. The import export activities will start as per normal rules from Wednesday morning.

Mohsin Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Checkpost Immigration, said that although import-export trade through Benapole port was closed, limited passport passenger travel was allowed and they were traveling.

Akram Hossain, Assistant Commissioner, Benapole Customs House , said Import Export activities of Petrapole-Benapole port  were closed on the occasion of  Sree Krishna's Happy Janmashtami. The import-export activities will start again from Wednesday morning.
