The import-export and unloading activities of the Indian port of Petrapole along with the Benapole land port in Bangladesh will be closed for two days. Bangladesh’s largest land port was closed for two consecutive days on Thursday due to Bishwakarma Puja and Friday being a weekly holiday.

No freight trucks have entered the two countries since Thursday (September 17) morning. However, in order to prevent corona infection on this route, the movement of passengers with passports is active through various health rules.

The port authorities said that the import and export will resume from next Saturday morning.

Sajedur Rahman, secretary of the C&F Staff Association at Benapole Port, confirmed the closure to Indian traders.

Meanwhile, hundreds of trucks carrying goods were stranded on both sides of the port as import-export trade came to a standstill. These products contain a variety of perishable foods.
