Immunization center in Munshiganj remains closed on weekdays, patients suffer

Published : 19 Jan 2023 08:32 PM

Complaints have been made that the beneficiaries of the Munshiganj Municipality Permanent Immunization Center are suffering due to the irregularities of the officials. On Thursday around 11 o'clock, Munshiganj Municipality went to the permanent vaccination center and saw this scene of suffering. The victims said that this suffering has become extreme as the responsible officers and service providers are not in the office regularly.

On arrival at the vaccination center on the ground, it can be seen that parents from different areas of Munshiganj municipality come to vaccinate children. They expressed anger as the vaccination center was locked. Despite waiting for a long time, no one was seen coming to the center. Emergency contact numbers are also displayed on the wall of the center for parents to contact. But due to non-receipt of mobile, more anger is created among them. All four doors of the center were locked. It is alleged that victims seeking services are constantly being turned away from the institution and service recipients are also kept away on various pretexts. While many things are right on paper at the centre, the picture is different in reality.

Talking to parents, it is known that children are waiting for a long time to get vaccinated. No people are visible in the center. The center does not even have an office assistant. Moreover, no one is available even after repeatedly calling the phone number on the wall.

In this regard, Md. Al Amin, the vaccinator of Munshiganj municipality's permanent vaccination center, was contacted on Thursday at around 2:30 p.m. He said that he came to the office a while ago.

All those who are coming to be vaccinated have been vaccinated. We also have entries with names in our register book. Mobile number is provided even if you go outside. If there is a delay, I will inform you on the mobile phone.

In this regard, Munshiganj Municipality Sanitary Inspector Leena Saha said that there are two persons in charge of the center including Al Amin. Every day from 10 am to 2 pm they perform regular duties. The office faced a little problem on Thursday. But there will be no problem from next Sunday.
