Authorities in Santhia, Pabna, have demolished an illegally constructed house on government land in Dhopadah Bazaar. The operation was carried out on Monday afternoon under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sadia Sultana, with support from the army.
Officials from the local Union Land Office, the Union Parishad Chairman, and village police also assisted in the operation.
Executive Magistrate Sadia Sultana stated that the individuals constructing the house had been asked to present legal documents for the land, but they failed to do so and did not appear before the authorities.
Local residents alleged that Rafique and Shihab, sons of a man named Chenilal from a nearby area, were forcefully building the structure, claiming ownership of the land. However, records show the land—27 decimals under RS Khatian 705, Dag 764, and 6 decimals under RS Khatian 718, Dag 771—is government khas land, registered in the names of Sharot Chandra Talukder, Jyoti Chandra Talukder, and Parbati Nath on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh. Locals also claimed the accused had been using fake documents to occupy the land for years.
