The contribution of the late Syed Ashraful Islam, Minister of Public Administration and former General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, is undeniable in the overall development of Kishoreganj and enhancing the beauty of the district town.
Narsunda Lake City was his dream project for Kishoreganj which is now visible due to rapid development of the town. Gurudayal Muktamancha in Narsunda Lake City is a notable place to spend leisure for the locals of town.
After investigation, correspondent found out that thousands of people everyday swarm the area around the open stage from morning till night. Hundreds of shops, including restaurants have emerged in the place. Every shop managed to get illegal electricity connection from the municipality electric supply line. Some stores in the place also have refrigerators, ovens & fans for business purposes.
Locals said that the theft is being carried out with the direct and indirect help of some leaders, activists and some dishonest officials and employees of Kishoreganj Power Development Board. There are some dishonest employees of Kishoreganj municipality who are also assisting this corrupt act.
Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Md Parvez Mia said, “I am not aware of this. I don't know who is stealing electricity.”
Kishoreganj Power Development Board Executive Engineer Md Tarek Shefati said that appropriate action will be taken soon if there is electricity connection being used.
