Illegal sand lifting continuous in Kushiyara
The illegal sand lifting through dredging machine is continuing at Angura Mohammed Pur village under the Beanibazar Upazila in Kushiyara river for long, putting the river dyke, Paddy field, Mosque, Madrasha and Bridge under threat. Already a bridge approach, many acre of paddy field and a portion of Mosque were gone into the riverbed.
However, local administration remain silent; though villagers lodge complaint to the Deputy Commissioner and local administration.
Meanwhile, due to the sand lifting by dredger machine, several cracks developed in the village. Sources said, recently every day 5/6 dredgers machine start the sand lifting from 5 am and it continue till to 10 pm ignoring the local peoples sound problems said, Abdul Karim a villagers of Angura Mohammedpur village.
It was alleged that a section of dishonest BNP and AL peoples did it by managing the local administration for earning a huge amount of money putting the environment under threat for long.
They have a drug businessperson to harass those who stood against their illegal sand business said the villager. So, in the fear of any harass local people now play silent role and reluctant to complain to administration. When asked about the sand lifting to Mouri Mahbub, UNO of Beanibazar Upazila she said, no one can do illegal sand business putting the environment under threat.
Kazi Emdadul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet said, “Contact the local administration regarding the matter.” However, he did not give any satisfactory answer to this reporter.
