A mobile court sealed an illegal clinic at Bagaachra Bazar in Sharsha Upazila of Jashore on charges of various irregularities on Tuesday midnight.
At the time, the clinic owner Abdul Majid was also fined Tk 1 lakh. Sharsha Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Rasna Sharmin Mithi conducted the mobile court drive.
Sharsha Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Yusuf Ali said the raid was carried out at a market in Bagaachra Bazar based on complaints from locals.
The clinic had been running in the corridor of a market with the help of some village doctors and untrained nurses. It did not even have a license or approval of the health department, he added.
Even then, patients were being treated at the clinic by the village doctors. Moreover, pathological examinations were also being carried away at the clinic without proper arrengements.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Rasna Sharmin said, people in the area were at health risk as unlicensed, village doctors and untrained nurses were operating the illegal clinic in an unhealthy environment.
She further said, “After receiving the news, we carried out a mobile court drive and fined the owner of the unnamed clinic Tk 1 lakh taka while sealing off the clinic”.
