A timely initiative indeed

While replying to a query of a lawmaker during the question and answer session, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told the Parliament that the government will launch ‘Integrated Lawful Interception System (ILIS)’ to keep an eye on social media contents and thwart various anti-state and anti-government activities..

When a vested quarter is misleading people at home and abroad through spreading rumour and fake news about the state and government in, the launching of ILIS will work as a tonic to this end. This quarter led by the BNP-Jamaat clique is deliberately and constantly telling that the current Awami League government has destroyed the entire economy of Bangladesh. The government has turned the Judiciary, Police and RAB into partisan agencies; they are now saying such lie at home and abroad.

Besides, different elements staying at home and abroad are also uploading fake and fabricated news about Bangladesh and the government on their facebook and other social media like youtube in a bid to make people more confused. The activities of the anti-liberation forces, power-mongers, looters of people’s wealth and parasite groups’ target is to create a troubled situation and seize state power through the back door and thwart the progress of democracy.

The

government should

introduce

the system to deter anti-state or

anti-government activities in a lawful manner as

early as possible

In line with a blueprint provided by BNP-Jamaat clique the vested quarters are out there to stage various types of incidents alongside spreading propaganda in the country to tarnish the government’s image before the world.

sBut Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is frequently urging the countrymen not to pay heed to any propaganda as Bangladesh is economically stable despite many developed countries face economic crisis for the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war.

The BNP-Jamaat clique in association evil forces has hired statement-givers at home and abroad with looted money to malign Awami League and they are trying to mislead people through spreading false and fake information on social media. So, the government should introduce the system to deter anti-state or anti-government activities in a lawful manner as early as possible.

We all should remain alert so that none can snatch away the rights of the people through hatching various plots. The perpetrators, plotters, rumour spreaders, troublemakers and religious fanatics, who will be involved in creating panic and anarchy in the country through spreading rumour and fake news about the state and government, should be dealt with an iron hand.

We hope law enforcement agencies will be working to identify the rumour-mongers and those who are involved in antisocial activities through social media as well as other electronic devices immediate after the introduction of ILIS.
