IGP lauds role of police in corona pandemic

Dr Benazir Ahmed, Inspector General of Police, has lauded the role police for the humanitarian action during the Covid-19 pandemic and said that while the relatives of Corona patients abandoned them fearing infection, police stood beside the people, even going beyond their duties. That is why police receive praise from the people during the Corona pandemic.

IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed on Monday morning made this assertion  while addressing as the chief guest at the passing out parade of one year-long fundamental training of Sub-Inspectors of 38th batches-2020, at Bangladesh Police Academy of Sarda. 

IGP Benazir Ahmed added that the government is revising and updating various rules to establish constitutional and legal rights of the people. The police should take prompt action in giving legal assistance to the people based on information. Every police should behave sensibly to all service expectants including the women, children, elderly aged people and the disabled.

 Dr. Benazir Ahmed also said that police have been working with utmost sincerity to maintain law and order of the country. He told the use of modern technology is a milestone in containing crime and facing the tactics. In this connection, he further said ability and service of police have further been extended through establishing forensic labs, digital forensic labs, DNA testing labs, IPDR Analysis, cyber crime unit, financial crime unit, victim support centre, Women and children desks, Beat policing, National Emergency Service 999 etc.

Earlier,  IGP visited the parade of the outgoing cadet SIs  of 2020 batches. A total of 1231 trainees including 38 females participated the training. IGP also distributed prizes among successful novice police officials. 

Tanvir Ahmed among males and Nasrin Sultana Jyoti from females were selected as the best cadets. 

The function were attended by  Golam Faruk, Principal of Sarda Police Academy,  Begum Jishan Mirja, Additional IGPs, top police, armed personnel and civilian officials and others.
