Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) in Jhenaidah distributed zakat fund cheques among the poor and distressed people of six Jhenaidah upazilas on Wednesday.
Second phase allocation for Taka 2.63 lakh was distributed among 67 persons in the district under the fiscal 2019-2020, said the IFB sources in Jhenaidah. Presided over by deputy director of IFB in Jhenaidah Abdul Hamid Khan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saroj Kumar Nath distributed the cheques as chief guest through a simple meeting in the IFB building in the town.
Assistant commissioner land in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila Khan Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun and Bhutiargati Alim Madrashah principal Abu Baker Siddique attended as special guests.
Describing the objectives of establishment of the IFB by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the guests said Bangabandhu had a dream to invite the people for a better Bangladesh maintaining some rules and regulations of Islam where distribution of fund was stated clearly.
If the well-to-do people donate their money in the jakat fund, the wealth distribution in the society will be more effective. It will help reduce social distances and establish harmony in the society, the guest said. They also urged the solvent people to donate their money in the jakat fund without any hesitation.
The second phase programme led by IFB Master Trainer Moulana Abdullah Al Mamun prayed for the salvation of the people already died of novel corona virus pandemic and or suffering from the havoc.
