An official of the non-government organisation Association for Social Advancement (ASA) had died with Covid-19 at his home at Chandmaripara in the town on Sunday.
The man was identified as Abdur Rauf, son of late Yasin Ali of the area. The number of burial following covid 19 death or suspected to be infected was 24 in the district, said the IFB sources.
Deputy Commissioner in Jhenidah Saroj Kumar Nath, IFB Jhenidah deputy director Abdul Hamid Khan, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Badruddoza Subho and some district and upazila level officials remain present during the burial.
Burial committee team of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) had buried the man in the evening of the day without any cooperation from the locals as well as his family. The number of burial following covid 19 death or suspected to be infected was 24, said the IFB sources.
IFB deputy director Abdul Hamid Khan said Abdur Rauf had been serving an official with ASA at Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah. He was tested corona positive and died at his home at 1.30pm.
Experiencing the situation during janaja and burial, the IFB official said they did not receive any sort of cooperation from the family and villagers anyway. Later they had buried the man at Jhenidah central graveyard at about 7 pm.
