After affecting over a hundred countries, coronavirus (COVID-19) has struck Bangladesh as well. Two Bangladeshis returning from Italy and one of their family members are now affected with the pathogen.

At a regular media briefing, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Director Meerjady Sabrina Flora divulged the information on Sunday (March 8) noon.

She said any person returning from any coronavirus-affected country or having the symptoms of coronavirus, which include fever, cough, sore throat or breathing difficulties, should immediately contact the IEDCR hotline numbers.

The hotline numbers are:

  • 019 277 117 84,
  • 019 277 117 85,
  • 019 370 000 11,
  • 019 371 100 11

Flora also said if anyone has breathing difficulties, they should immediately go to the nearest hospital and also contact their hotline. The hospital itself should also contact the hotline numbers. IEDCR will collect blood samples from the hospital to confirm if the patient is affected with coronavirus or not.
