Nagarik Oikya General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser on Saturday said that if fundamentalism rises, democracy will not be established and we will not be able to stand with head upraise as an independent sovereign nation.
‘We are worried that whether the democracy will be established in the coming days, or the ghost of fascist will once again reside in the throne of Bangladesh’ he made the remarks at a discussion organised by Ganatantra Manch marking the anniversary of July Uprising at National Press Club.
He also said ‘The expectation of the mass uprising was that we would be able to cast our vote and live independently in Bangladesh. But if we look closely, we will see that there have been some small changes in the governance system of Bangladesh’.
