Advocate M Idris Ali of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Council’s panel was elected as president of the annual election in Jashore District Bar Association. He got 266 votes. His rival advocate Debashish Das of Lawyer oikko panel got 194 votes. Advocate MA Gafur, the candidate of Lawyer oikko panel who got 274 votes was elected as general secretary. His opponent candidate advocate SM Badaruzzaman Palash of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Council’s panel received 180 votes.
Sources said, the election of Jashore district lawyer association was held at the auditorium of the association's number-1 building on Friday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm in a festive mood. The election results were announced at night after the counting of votes. Election commissioner of Lawyer Association advocate Esmot Haser announced the result at 9:00 pm. A total of 466 votes were cast among 482 votes.
District Lawyer Association sources said, Khondakar Moazzem Hossain Mukul of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Council panel and Golam Mostafa of Lawyer oikko panel were elected as vice-presidents, Emadadul Haque Imdad of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer council was elected as joint secretary, Md.Jahangir Alam and Palak Kumar Maitra of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer council were elected as assistant secretaries. AKM Monirul Islam of Lawyer oikko panel was elected as library secretary. Tariq Enam Anik of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Council, Md. Zulfiqar Ali, Rehana Parveen, Mokbul Hossain of Lawyer oikko panel and SM Masudul Haque of Democratic Lawyer Association were elected as executive members.
