Two separate complaints were filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her party Awami League (AL) and Al-led 14-party alliance. The two complaints were filed on Wednesday.
An allegation of genocide was brought against the Awami League as a party for allegedly giving direct instruction in the barbaric crimes and its 14-party allies like Workers Party of Bangladesh and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad).
Chairman of Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) Bobby Hajjaj filed the complaint with the office of the ICT chief prosecutor this noon.
Hajjaj filed the complaint against Awami League, Workers Party of Bangladesh, Jasad, Bangladesh Samyabadi Dal, Tariqat Foundation, Ganatantri Party, National Awami Party and other 14-party alliance members.
“I want the tribunal to frame genocide charges against these
parties and bring them to justice for their heinous crimes,” Bobby Hajjaj told newsmen at a press briefing at the ICT prosecution office.
Meanwhile, a complaint was filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) against 25 people, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, over the killing of schoolboy Anas in capital's Chankharpul area on August 5.
Anas's father Palash filed the complaint today with the office of the ICT chief prosecutor.
"Anas joined anti-discrimination student movement in Chankharpul area on August 5. He left a letter for his parents, pleading for their forgiveness and urging them to be proud of him if he failed to return from protest. He was shot to death. We have received video footages of members of Armed Police Battalion shooting indiscriminately in the alleys on that day," chief prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam said.
The ICT chief prosecutor further said that a total of 31 complaints were filed so far for alleged genocides and crimes against humanity, adding, "Thirteen of those were filed with chief prosecutor's office and the remaining were filed with the investigation agency."
