ICT Division partners with Ami Probashi to empower migrant workers

The ICT Division and Ami Probashi Limited have joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance support for migrant workers and strengthen the digital economy of Bangladesh. The MoU signing ceremony took place at the BCC auditorium in the ICT Tower, with esteemed guests and officials in attendance.

State Minister of ICT P expressed his appreciation for the significant contribution made by migrant workers to the economy of middle-income digital Bangladesh. He commended the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and Ami Probashi Limited, particularly in preserving the data bank of migrant workers.

Impressed by the success of Ami Probashi, the state minister highlighted the app's rapid growth and user-friendly interface, considering it as one of the fastest-growing apps in the world.

He expressed satisfaction with the initiative's flawless execution and anticipated further collaboration between the ICT Division and Ami Probashi to introduce additional features such as bank account opening, a marketplace, and remittance facilities for migrants. The State Minister emphasized their commitment to delivering comprehensive services for aspiring migrants and realizing the vision of a smart Bangladesh.

Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry Imran Ahmad while speaking as the chief guest emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships and the shared responsibility of both parties in delivering efficient services. The Honorable Minister cited Ami Probashi as a prime example of proactively facilitating service delivery and recognized the app's significant user base of approximately 5 million people.

The Minister emphasized that public-private partnerships have already yielded positive outcomes, with Ami Probashi providing services at no additional cost to the government through a service charge-based model. He praised the simplified processes and enhanced accessibility of services, acknowledging Ami Probashi's achievement of registering over a million migrant workers amid the pandemic.

The MoU was signed by Joint Secretary of the ICT Division Md. Ataur Rahman Khan and Co-Founder & CEO of Ami Probashi Limited Namir Ahmed Noori representing their respective organizations.

Namir Ahmed Noori highlighted the achievements of the Ami Probashi App and Web Portal, emphasizing how the extensive data collected from migrants is aiding the Bangladesh government in making informed decisions in the migration sector. He proudly announced that the app is the first of its kind in the world, developed entirely by Bangladeshi engineers and technicians to assist overseas workers.

The event concluded with optimistic hopes that Ami Probashi Limited will continue to contribute significantly to Bangladesh's progress in becoming a Smart Bangladesh by 2041, harnessing the power of youth and advancing the nation's digital landscape.
