ICT dept ranks 1st in annual action plan evaluation

The Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has achieved the first place in the overall evaluation of the implementation of the annual innovation action plan for the fiscal year 2020-21.

In the overall evaluation of the annual innovation work plan, out of 100 marks, this department has achieved the first place with the highest score of 99.8 among 52 ministries and departments.

The information was provided by the department of ICT in a press release on Thursday.  

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam congratulated the Information and Communication Technology Department in a semi-official letter for setting such a precedent in innovation activities.

Annual innovation action plan implementation and evaluation guidelines for ministries, divisions, offices, agencies and field level departments are prepared by the Cabinet Division every year. The present government is working relentlessly to make the country a developed and prosperous one by 2041. The innovation activities of the ministries and departments play a dynamic role in the implementation of the action plan adopted by the government.

In this regard, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak in his response said that this achievement was possible due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the guidance and supervision of Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

“Bangladesh is ahead in information technology than many countries of the world. He said that in the last 13 years, due to proper infrastructure development in the IT sector and timely adoption and implementation of various programs, it has been possible to keep the sectors of education, health, agriculture, courts and supply system in operation even during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.

He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the architect of digital Bangladesh Sajeeb Wazed Joy for this achievement.

He also expressed his gratitude to the ICT department, all the concerned departments, agencies and project officials and employees for their tireless efforts.

The Department of Information Technology also achieved the first place among all the ministries and departments in the implementation of ADP in the annual development programme of FY 2020-21.

The rate of ADP implementation of this department on the basis of release of funds was 99.92 percent. This information was published in the ADP implementation progress report by Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning.
