The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organized a seminar on sustainability reporting on last October 10, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in the Padma Hall Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.
Md. Akhter Hossain, Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs), Prime Minister's Office, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Md. Hamid Ullah Bhuiyan, Chairman, Financial Reporting Council (FRC) remained present in the seminar as the Special Guest. Dr. Aditi Haldar, Director – Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) South Asia presented the Keynote paper as the Resource Person.
Two discussion sessions were held at this seminar: “Sustainability Report in Bangladesh” and “Value Creation through Sustainability Reporting”.
Zinnia Tanzina Huq FCMA, CFO & Finance Director, Unilever Bangladesh Ltd moderated the first discussion session while Arif Khan FCMA, Past President & present Council Member, ICMAB, as well as Vice Chairman, Shanta Asset Management Ltd., Moderated the second session.
The Chief Guest of the evening in his speech expressed that the government is dedicated to implementing the SDG, following the success of the MDGs, under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.
Dr. Aditi Haldar in his presentation said that GRI is an international organization that aspires to create a common language of Sustainability Reporting. GRI helps businesses and other organizations understand and communicate the sustainability impact.
Later, a MoU was signed on preparing of Sustainable Reporting between ICMAB and GRI where President of ICMAB and Dr. Aditi Haldar, Director, South Asia from GRI signed the MoU for respective organizations.
