Ice drugs worth Tk 10 crore seized in Satkania

Police raided the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Satkania upazila and arrested the driver-helper of a pickup weighing 2 kg of crystal meth, which is also known as ‘Ice’.  One of the arrested is a Rohingya citizen.

They were arrested from Andar Manik Dargah area in front of Nezam Uddin LPG pump north of Keranihat on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway around 2pm on Friday night. The vehicle used for drug trafficking was seized at that time. 

Additional Superintendent of Police Zakaria Rahman Jiku of­ Satkania-Lohagara Circle said this at a press conference on Friday evening. 

The two arrested are Faisal Ahmed of Baharchhara Kachhpia area of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar and Zahid Alam of Ukhia Kutupalong Rohingya Camp No-7. Satkania Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Zakaria Rahman Jiku said a search of the Nezam Uddin LPG pump on the highway on a tip-off led to the arrest of two people, including a 2kg crystal meth.  

The estimated value of the recovered crystal meth is Tk 10 crore. 

He said an NGO official named Mohammad Arifur Rahman rented the vehicle from Teknaf to Dhaka & buy furniture.  The driver and the helper were taking these dangerous drugs to Dhaka for sale at high prices.  A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act. 

Officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station OC Anwar Hossain, Inspector OC (Investigation) Sujan Kumar Dey, Sub-Inspector Sheikh Saiful Alam and Sub-Inspector Zakir Hossain were present at the press conference.
