The visiting Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Business delegation has offered investment proposal of Tk1500 crore especially in energy sector.
The business delegation of 85 members led by the ICC Director General Dr. Rajeev Singh who have joined the ICC BIMSTEC Conclave that started at a city hotel has made the proposal.
The ICC BIMSTEC Conclave is aimed at promoting electricity distribution and transmission among BIMSTEC countries, energy trading in Bangladesh, and the renewable energy sector.
During the first day of the ICC Business Conclave on Sunday, Dr. Rajeev Singh highlighted the participation of delegates from various Indian sectors and their
interest in investing in health, education, and agriculture besides the energy sector.
Indian businessmen have put forth a proposal to invest Tk 1,500 crore in energy, education, and health sectors, with plans to establish specialized medical centers and a university in Bangladesh.
The India-Bangladesh Business Conference has drawn representatives from 85 companies who will engage in discussions with the government over the next three days.
Furthermore, Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), expressed the desire for permission to invest 10 percent of exported money abroad, stressing that a portion of exports should be
allocated for investment in Bangladesh.
The ICC-BIMSTEC Energy Conclave, organized by the Indian Chamber of
Commerce-ICC in collaboration with IBCCI, will run from August 6 to August 8, fostering collaboration and exploration of mutual interests among the participating
nations and sectors.
The participants from diverse industries included manufacturing of industrial
products, distinguished MSMEs, large-scale construction companies, power
generation companies, new and renewable energy companies, PSUs, solar energy, oil and gas companies, DISCOMS storage, and distribution companies, and energy efficiency companies.
