Awami League-backed mayoral candidates have won in the two city corporations election of Dhaka city by a huge margin. Also, Awami League-backed candidates have won in the majority of the ward elections for councillors.
Asif Ahmed Sarkar has won the election for the post of councilor by a huge margin in ward no. 33.
Asif Ahmed, winning for the first time as a councillor, said, “I am very happy to be elected as the councillor. I am also grateful to those who have made me victorious by voting for the boat. I express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the people of the area.”
He added, “City Corporation has implemented various projects to improve roadways, sewerage and drainage systems in the area.”
“Tens of millions of taka have been allocated for development projects under the direction of Honourable Prime Minister. Since then, I have taken various initiatives in the development of drainage system, box drainage, road widening and giving street light connection for the development of the area through personal initiatives,” he further added.
“We have taken necessary measures to ward off dengue mosquitoes in ward no. 33 with the support of the city corporation,” he said.
Asif Ahmed further said, “As per the directive of the Honourable Prime Minister, I will make my ward 33 as a role model of a city ward that befits Dhaka’s modernity which will be free of pollution and drugs.”
“From the very first day I take the office as a councillor, I will start working to build a better ward for the benefit of the people of the area,” he concluded.
