A girl has been on hunger strike for two days at her boyfriend's house in Sunamganj's Tahirpur demanding marriage.
Monday (August 24) evening in the village of Mallikpur Badaghat Union, the 12th class student of Badaghat Government College started a hunger strike at the house of Tayef Ahmed (25), the son of A Haque.
According to the written complaint of the girl's family and the police station, they were often seen together as Tayef and the college student's house were next to each other. At one stage a love affair developed between them. The love affair between them has been going on for about 2 to 3 years. During this time they also visited different places.
On Monday morning, the college student got the news that her boyfriend was getting married in another place. At one point Tayef refused to marry her.
Later, the college student went to Tayef’s house in the evening to demand marriage and started a hunger strike. At that time, her boyfriend Tayef was at home.
Later, when the villagers came to know about it, Badaghat Union Parishad Chairman Aftab Uddin and other dignitaries of the area sat down to discuss the matter with the parents of both the parties. But as no solution was found in the discussion, the fasting college student was kept in the custody of Ashaddar Mallik of Mallikpur village.
The college student said that she has been in a love affair with Tayef for 2 to 3 years. He took her to different places with the promise of marriage. Now she will commit suicide if Tayef does not marry her.
On Tuesday (August 25) night, the college student's father filed a written complaint with the Tahirpur police station accusing Taif of the incident.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Tahirpur Police Station Mohammad Atiqur Rahman confirmed the allegations.
On the other hand, the father of the college student said, “Tayef’s family took time to separate their son from home in the morning. So far, my daughter is in the custody of Ashaddar Mallick's house. They have started procrastinating on the issue of marriage.”
