Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun urged Japanese multinational conglomerate SONY Corporation to invest in High Tech Parks of Bangladesh to manufacturing their products.
Minister was addressing a ceremony, jointly organised by Sony Corporation and Smart Technology (BD) Ltd for declaration of their partnership of “Official Distributor of SONY in Bangladesh” at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel, Dhaka on Friday.
From now on Smart Technology (BD) Ltd will market the electronics and technological products of Japanese multinational conglomerate SONY Corporation. Smart Technology (BD) Ltd has been declared as the “New Official Distributor of SONY in Bangladesh”.
Regional Market Development Company of SONY South-East Asia’s President Atsushi Endo made the announcement joining the ceremony virtually.
While addressing, minister said that the business collaboration between Japan’s SONY and Bangladesh’s Smart Technology is an appropriate and timely decision to upgrade the technical and consumer electronics marketing and services in Bangladesh.
“I believe that Japanese entrepreneurs are coming to this country, trusting their services and relying on their marketing policy and commitment. Smart Technology (BD) Ltd will go further. SONY Corporation will make Smart Technology (BD) Ltd more dynamic. We have been developing High Tech Parks, where SONY can invest in manufacturing their products,” he added.
Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Housing and Public Works Ministry Secretary Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Managing Director of Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Bangladesh Computer Samity President Shahid-Ul-Munir were also present on the occasion as special guests.
While addressing, Mostofa Jabbar said that the role of Smart Technology (BD) Ltd is very important in Bangladesh by realizing the dream of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a digital Bangladesh. The company has been involved with ICT product manufacturing, market building as well as customer service. So, by making Smart Technology the new official distributor, SONY Corporation has made the best decision.
Housing and Public Works Secretary said, “I, myself am a life time customer of Smart Technology. At present many buyers are constantly being deceived by buying fake and low-quality Sony. On behalf of the government, we are taking necessary steps to remove fake Sony and all illegal Sony signboards, stop fake propaganda in Digital media to protect customers. From now on, I believe that Genuine Sony Television will reach everyone’s doorstep through Smart Technology.”
While declaring Smart Technology as the official distributor, President of Regional Market Development Company of SONY South-East Asia Atsushi Endo said that Smart Technology is competent to lead the ICT sector in Bangladesh for all reputed global brands. From now on, Smart Technology will also lead the SONY consumer electronics market in Bangladesh.
“I believe that in joint hands with Smart Technology, SONY will perform a very important role in the industrial development of Bangladesh,” he further said.
Addressing the event Managing Director of Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd Mohammad Zahirul Islam said, “In the ICT product market, we are now representing more than 60 internationally renowned brands. In our business, we always ensure the highest stake of our brands in the respected product market. From now on, SONY is added with us. We will do our best to make SONY the market leader brand in Bangladesh.”
Bangladesh Computer Samity President Shahid-Ul-Munir also spoke at the event, while high officials of SONY International Ltd and Smart Technology (BD) Ltd were present.
